From Trailing Spouses to Trusted Advisors – Why We Launched The Aussie Expat Podcast
After years of talking about it, we’ve finally done it – our first episode of The Aussie Expat podcast is live.
When you’ve lived overseas for nearly a decade like the three of us, you realise pretty quickly that being an expat isn’t just about a new address. It’s about new opportunities, big transitions, and the stories you collect along the way.
For us, those stories have always been the best part of the job. Whether it’s helping a family buy their dream home back in Australia, setting up smart financial plans for the move home, or figuring out how to navigate the tax complexities of multiple countries, our work is really about people – their journeys, their goals, their challenges.
That’s what this podcast is about, too.
In our first episode, we introduce ourselves and share a bit about how we went from “trailing spouses” who followed our partners to Singapore, to building businesses that support Aussie expats around the world. We talk candidly about why we’re so passionate about this work, what keeps us going, and the lessons we’ve learned from the hundreds of expat clients we’ve helped over the years.
We also touch on why planning ahead is such a game-changer – especially for anyone thinking of moving overseas or returning to Australia. The decisions you make before you go, and before you come home, can make a huge difference to your finances, your family’s comfort, and your peace of mind.
If you’re an Aussie expat (or planning to be one), I think you’ll see yourself in these conversations.
We’re excited to bring in guests over the coming weeks – real expats sharing real stories, and experts breaking down everything from repatriation planning to tax to mortgages. We want this to be practical, honest, and helpful for anyone on this journey.
If that sounds like something you’d find valuable, I’d love you to have a listen.
And if there’s a topic you want us to cover, or a story you want to share, please reach out. We’d love to hear from you.
Here’s to making expat life not just easier, but better.
Cheers,
Tim
